Introduction
The transcription of names is a delicate exercise: it is more difficult to avoid the misreadings, the confusions which had with the writing (between N and U or C and T, for example), because one cannot attach the names to existing words, not more than one cannot know with certainty how the names were Latinized (Duchamp, for example, could be Latinized in Duchampus or in Campi and Regis can be the Latinization of Rey, Roy, Duroy, etc). The genitive of the surnames means the membership of the family here: Joannes Molini means Jehan [ of the family ] Molin. Impossible however to say if, in modern French, it would have to be better returned by Jean Molin, Jean Dumolin, etc One often reconnait, this known as, the French patronym under Latinization: Pelliterius for Pellitier, etc. In the same way, for the first names, when one has only one folio, it is delicate to know if it is necessary to return the abbreviation G°par Goffredus or Godefredus(Geoffroy or Godefroy) as Cappelli suggests it, or by Gregorius, Georgio, etc.
